The PROTO SCS V3 marks a major milestone as the first SCS designed and manufactured in-house at our new PROTO CNC machine shop in San Diego, CA. Originally intended as a restock of the SCS V2, while machining the V2, Andrew Broussard, the mastermind behind PROTO, recognized simple but impactful improvements. By rounding the front profile, adding scalloped material between the bolt knuckles, and incorporating machined engraving, the V3 features a fresh look while preserving the iconic PROTO SCS design.
Andrew Broussard, who invented, named, and PATENTED the Standard Compression System (SCS), initially developed it to improve upon the Inverted Compression System (ICS) after creating the first threadless forks for freestyle scootering. When the first PROTO SCS hit the market, it set the standard for freestyle scooter compatibility. Over the years, the design has remained largely unchanged, as it’s tough to improve upon such a simple yet effective system. However, the V2 introduced larger 8mm bolts, an offset slot for increased holding power, and a spreader bolt for easier servicing. The PROTO SCS V3 now takes that solid foundation and pushes it into the future.
